ADMISSION RULES

A general advertisement is given by the University in the newspapers, for enrolment in various programs of studies. All applications for admission will be accepted on prescribed forms and shall have attested photocopies of all the previously obtained Degrees/Certificates/DMCs as well as domicile certificate and any other documents mentioned in application form attached to the Prospectus. An applicant who is employed in Government/Autonomous/Semi-Autonomous/Corporate bodies or firms, etc will be required to obtain necessary departmental permission for enrolment in the University.
The admission committee of the respective department will scrutinize the application forms.
An eligible candidate will have to appear for the test and /or interview at the specified time and date. The purpose of the test is to prepare a list of those candidates who meet the criteria of eligibility.
A list of provisionally selected candidates, according to the number of seats and allocation for various categories already approved, will be placed on the notice board and website of the University. All selected candidates are informed through mail on their addresses.

SCHEME OF STUDIES

  • Abasyn offers programs leading to the award of degree in Management Sciences, Computer Science/IT, Physics, Laws, Education and Pharmacy, etc with specializations in the relevant program under the semester system.
  • The medium of instruction is English.
  • Each semester will be of 16-18 weeks including examinations.
  • There will be two internal examinations in each semester ie. Mid-semester and final examination.
  • The two examinations will be held in the theory part of course with the following distribution of marks:-
a) Mid-term examination, assignments, quizzes, etc : 50%
b) Final Exam 50%
  • If a course includes a practical, the practical examination will be held once at the end of the course. A student will have to pass theory as well as practical examination separately.
  • A student must pass each course with at least ‘C’ grade and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 on a scale of 4.00.
  • A student whose GPA is less than 2.00 at the end of First semester in a Bachelor degree program and less than 3.00 in a Master degree program, may be promoted to the second semester on academic probation. At the end of second semester, the student must secure a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and must also have passed 50% of the courses failing which he/she will be given the option to get re-admission in the first semester of the same class or reappear in the examination with regular students of the class to improve his/her grades for eligibility to admission in the next semester.
  • Students who obtain ‘D’ or ‘F’ grades will be allowed to improve their grades. Although they will be exempted from re-attending the classes but will be required to register themselves for those courses in which improvement is desired and will appear with the regular class in the mid term and final theory and practical exam. The facility will be available to a student only once.
  • A course having 3 credit hours means three lectures of one hour duration each, per week.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

To make the students regular in class, 75% attendance of the total lectures delivered has been made compulsory to appear in the examination. Moreover, every student must maintain at-least 50% attendance in each course at the end of each month.
In case of participation in sports or in other activity on behalf of the University or on Medical grounds, if recommended by the certified medical officer, some relaxation in attendance may be allowed by the Dean or Vice Chancellor.

EVALUATION OF ANSWER SHEETS

 At the end of exam, teacher shall mark the scripts and prepare three copies of the award list retaining a copy himself and passing on two copies to the Controller of Examinations.

  • The Controller of Examinations shall retain the scripts for one year and then destroy them.
  • The Vice Chancellor shall constitute a committee of three senior teachers of the department for hearing appeals of students who may have a grievance concerning their grades. An appeal must be lodged within seven days of declaration of result of the concerned course. The decision of the committee shall be final.
  • First and Second positions certificates are awarded in each program on the basis of merit. If there is more then one position holder, the university will determine the position on the basis of marks obtained.
