I am glad to know that, on the recommendations of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, the Government of NWFP has approved the establishment of Abasyn University, Peshawar, through the issuance of an Ordinance.

Universities play a crucial role in the development of a nation. The Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, has been striving to pay greater attention to this aspect of our national life and has taken big strides through placement of hundreds of students in reputed universities/institutions abroad for acquiring Ph.D. degrees in various academic fields. On completion of their education, these scholars should be able to play a vital role in nation building activities.

The Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, has been coordinating with the private Universities of the country and providing them advisory services for dissemination of quality education and conducting standard research.

I hope that Abasyn University will develop into an institution of excellence in the years ahead and I wish the University every success.
